Relief Progress
CARE Initiatives & Selected Projects
Our service programs align into four strategic CARE initiatives which are fulfilled through our staff, volunteers and partners.
Education:
MegaCARE provides a wide rang of educational assistance. The key focus is on basic, vocational and technical education through the provision of basic materials, textbooks,
uniforms, computer training and constructing computer learning centers to assist students and educators.
Selected projects:
- Donated two 18 wheelers full of supplies to an alternative school in Shreveport, LA
- Built a computer learning centre with 40 computers in a Slum school in Kenya
- Donated computers to orphanages in Kenya and Mexico
- Purchased school uniforms for students in Kenya and Mexico
- Donated back packs and school; supplies for children in Dallas, Mexico and Kenya
Health Care:
MegaCARE concentrates on helping people most in need, particularly women and children, by providing a strong focus on health care and disease prevention. This goal is accomplished by providing medicine, medical camps, building health clinics and supplying medical equipment.
Selected Projects:
- Completed a hospital wing in Belize and supplied the hospital
- Donated $400K in medicine & supplies to a hospital in Belize
- Completed a two story wing at Melchizedek hospital in Kenya shipping supplies that valued at 700K
- Built a medical clinic in Kenya
- Donated medicine and supplies to clinics throughout Africa
- Provided $200K in medicine to Kenya
- Donated medicine and medical supplies to a handicap school for children and a hospital in Guyana, South America
- Donated equipment to infant ward and supplied bedding for 100 rooms in a new hospital wing in Bulgaria
- Provided Medical Camps in Mexico, Guyana, Kenya, South Africa, Swaziland and Health Fairs in Dallas, TX and at MegaFest in Atlanta, GA
- Partnered with the American Red Cross to host a blood Drive in Dallas. Donations to date have saved over 2,000 lives
Humanitarian:
MegaCARE’s humanitarian efforts assist communities that are adversely affected by natural disasters and in extreme need of resources for survival. Efforts include the distribution of food, clothing, personal care items, toys, clean water programs and environmental “green” projects.
Selected Projects:
Philanthropic
- Built houses with Habitat for Humanity in Dallas
- Donated 100K to build houses in Cadillac Heights in Dallas
- Money was raised to build two houses in India after the Tsunami
- Fourteen houses provided in South Africa to transition families from slum life
- Shoe Distribution Programs in Kenya, Mexico
- Food distribution programs in Mexico, Guyana, Bulgaria and Kenya
Clean Water Program
- 13 water stations in Kenya
- Two rehabilitated wells in Zambia
- One well in Swaziland
- One 10 kilometer water pipeline in Kenya
- One 3 kilometer water pipeline in South Africa
Disaster Relief
- Participated in hurricane Katrina relief by providing phone banks for communication and assistance; recognized as a distribution site; partnered with World Vision for remote store for survivors to receive toiletries and supplies on a daily basis
- Provided clean up services for survivors of hurricane Ike
- Donated $100K to assist Tsunami survivors in India
- Purchased and distributed 6 tons of food and cooking oil during the drought of East Africa
Food & relief aid to different countries in Africa
Community Service
- Distribute air conditioners in Dallas during record heat wave
- Conducted multiple shoe & toy drives for orphanages in Mexico, Kenya and Bulgaria
- Donated Food, clothing, bicycles and toys to orphanages in Mexico and Guyana during holiday season
- Construction & community development programs in Mexico and Kenya
- Constructed a children’s centre in Swaziland
- Planted 900 trees in the south Dallas area and initiated recycling and beautification projects
Empowerment:
MegaCARE’s focus is to improve living conditions of deprived families by developing, implementing and sustaining employment and business initiatives. This expands opportunities for families and communities there by reducing the occurrence of poverty.
Selected Projects:
- Provide Business Mixers for local businesses in Dallas, Kenya and South Africa
- During Medical camp projects 150 doctors, 60 nurses and 30 health care workers were given jobs in Kenya
- During the Construction of the Kenya pipeline, 120 local people were given jobs
- Construction of the South African Pipeline, 67 local people were given jobs
- Computer centres built and business training provided to generate income for locals in Kenya
- Business seminars in Kenya and Zambia
- Provided supplies for AIDS victims in Africa so they could create a source of income
